Courts to consolidate murder charges against APC chairman

The two courts, hearing the murder charges preferred against the Chairman of  the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, Chief Jide Awe, will consolidate the case following the order of Chief Magistrate Simeon Ojo of the Chief Magistrate’s Court III in Ado Ekiti.
The prosecutor, Mr. O.P Alabi, who is the Deputy Director at the Office of Director of Public Prosecution, at the resumed hearing of the case before the Chief Magistrate Court III on Wednesday, made an oral application that the two cases should be consolidated before one of the courts since the accused person was also arraigned for similar charges before Chief Magistrate Court I.
The prosecutor also filed another application for an adjournment of the matter to allow the office of the DPP time to study the case file.
Alabi told the court that the DPP office had yet to be furnished with the detail of the matter by the police since the office took over the matter.
The defence counsel, Mr. Adetunji Oso, did not raise any objection to the application by the prosecutor.
Chief Magistrate Ojo, in his ruling, said the matter be transferred to Chief Magistrate’s Court I for mention on October 18, 2013.
