The 36-year-old actress has had a number of breath-taking red carpet looks this year including the sparkling embellished Miu Miu dress she wore to the Golden Globe Awards (above) that had everyone saying, "Wow!"
Even as Olivia Pope in the ABC hit series, Scandal, Washington is setting fashion trends.
When talking fashion inspiration, Washington has a simple recipe: just be yourself. “For me the goal is to feel comfortable, event-appropriate and to be an elevated, more special version of myself or to feel like the best version of myself in that context and just be in the moment,” she told PEOPLE.
Being the elevated version of herself has taken Washington far this year even earning her an Emmy nomination as the leading lady of Scandal. It looks like Washington, who is newly married to San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, has much to celebrate.
