A resident of the area who spoke with a Punch reporter said:
“The news was shocking. Not many of us believed the story at first but the truth cannot be hidden for too long. The woman, a petty trader, was said to have been raped by her son. She was badly injured and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
"I can tell you that the family is presently living in shame. We hear that the family members are planning to move out of the house but we cannot confirm that.”
The accused young man was in court this past Tuesday and was remanded in prison custody until October 16th, when the case comes up again for hearing.
