Sailing Through The Dark

Sailing Through The Dark

“The year you were born marks only your entry into the world. Other years where you prove your worth, they are the ones worth celebrating.”

“Good times are a reminder and a reward for dealing with the difficult and challenging times we all go through. The trick is to celebrate the good times in advance of the difficult times. Always remember, good times await you after the difficult times pass….”

James A. Murphy

The journey of a man in life is definitely through the dark, we have no idea what the future holds in it for us, there are seasons of peace and celebrations, and periods of turbulence and worries, but through all, we try to survive, get refined and come out alive and blessed, otherwise going faint-hearted, you chicken out of the race, get bruised, broken and covered in shame. The realest way to go about life is to be determined to get blown by the wind but not lose your feet, gather the spoils that came with the storm; pick up wisdom and knowledge from the experience and make it your breastplate as you approach the future.

The world of man is weaved with the unknown, we live to understand its mystery. When a man and woman decide to have a child of their own, neither of them knows what could be the sex of the child and how many children may result from the sexual intercourse? The innocent child(ren) that comes from the union also has no knowledge of the would-be parent. From the conception of the baby in the womb, all human beings start their life in the dark. The foetus goes through stages as the baby is fully formed swimming in an unknown environment and the survival of this innocent baby becomes dependent upon the mother. As life may have it, some babies die in the womb or some makes it to life but the mother dies at or before birth, these are sorrowful events that we pray God forbid it happen. The lives of you and I starts with struggles in the dark bloody bag of life where we pray and wish to escape our one-man world to make it out to the universe, the world of humans where unknown to us are greater battles to be fought and tougher challenges to tackle. We are totally unaware of what we would become or become of us, we are uniformed of trials and woe that may betide us, and we have no knowledge of our victory, success, fulfillment and joy that may have no bound. We are the sailor fully armed by our creator sailing through the dark waters of life who is ignorant of his capacity to sail through even in high winds.

I want to congratulate you and I for coming to the world, i salute our bravery to accept the invitation of our parents, swam in blood for 9 months (more or less) and survived this period, came out to life, amazed as families and friends welcomed us with smiles and laughter, and as innocent as we are, we responded with cry and tears of joy which is our simple expression of ‘oh I made it through the dark and pool of blood to life’. I sincerely want to say to you that even for having gone through that stage and made it to life, you are a victor.

There is a lesson to learn from one thing that happens when babies are given birth to; they are cleaned so that people can carry, hug and embrace them. The lesson is that, after every confrontation or challenge that you overcame, you must delete and forget the tags of sorrow and pains that comes with it and look forward to opportunities and blessings stretching its arms to welcome you.

Hello, we are here already and this world will be our abode till we pass away, as we have no place to run to; we must march forward with courage and confidence expecting the unexpected. It would have been easy sailing across the face of the earth if the next event(s) in our life can be predicted like the meteorologist predicts everyday weather but the weather of our very lives cannot be predicted by any man, that is why life is designed for the brave and bold who are wise enough to know that the idea of life by God is to make it unimaginably interesting as we unveil the awesome and the awful situations of life and savor the sweet and bitter experiences, and be full of thanks as we count our blessings, name them one by one and it will surprise us that our failures, rejection, confrontations and challenges are meant to make us stronger, valuable and fulfilled.

I laugh at that man who says I can read the future of another man; it’s pathetic to know he also do not have an understanding of his fate and future, he is also searching for answers to the questionable events of his life, why go you this one? All men are blind; we all wait on the events of life for direction, we all sail in the dark.

As we sail in the dark across the oceans of life, let the word of God be a light unto our path, let it be our sun in the day and our moon in the night. Take it out of your mind that the sea will ever rest, you must learn and be prepared to sail when it is stormy. The book of Psalms 34:19 says ‘many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivers him out of them all’. It is good to know that the mastermind of the earth and its fullness thereof, do not promise us that we would not be afflicted or have troubles in our life, He only urge us to endure the turbulent time, stay strong and patient because He would arise when our strength fails and our foot lose its balance to deliver us and give us victory that would make us forget our sorrows and agony.

As we sail across the oceans of life, throw your net to the waters and catch enough fishes that will satisfy you, your household, people out there and maybe even generations after you. When I say fish i mean go after every opportunity that arise in life that you can with no fear imagine yourself capable of doing. Not everything that glitters is gold, not all opportunities that pose itself so, are suitable for you but whichever you can visualize yourself launching into without any form of cowardice, go for it, pursue it and give it all your energy.

Celebrate good times in advance of difficult times, since anyway difficult times will come, it is enough reason that we remain happy because good times will surely come to comfort us for staying strong through the storm. I want to wish you a successful and blissful voyage, and the courage and strength to sail in the dark across the deep waters of life, stay fulfilled.

God Loves  You
