An Alabama man pleaded guilty to trying to hire a member of the KKK to hang his black neighbor.
According to Raw Story, Allen Wayne Denson Morgan told an undercover FBI agent — whom he believed was a Klansman — that he wanted to see the neighbor “hung from a tree and gutted” and have his genitals cut off. He wanted the man to “die a slow and painful death.”
The 29-year-old Munford resident believed his neighbor, Clifford Maurice Mosley, who is a registered sex offender, raped his wife sometime in August. FBI agents said Morgan knew his neighbor had been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a 13-year-old victim back in 2008. Morgan confessed that he tried to “force a confrontation” with his neighbor on August 22 by “firing multiple rounds of ammunition” at him outside of their homes. The man ran away, and Morgan assumed he was guilty of raping his wife since he didn’t try to defend himself.
“Mosley fled on foot as Morgan fired several shots in the ground beside him in an effort to intimidate him,” FBI Special Agent Cornelius Jr. said. “Morgan assessed that Mosley must be guilty of the rape of his wife because Mosley never tried to defend himself by standing his ground or offering to reason with Morgan.”
Morgan told an acquaintance about his plan, and that person leaked it to the FBI. The day of the confrontation, Morgan spoke with an agent he believed was a member of the KKK.
Morgan and the undercover agent agreed to meet at a motel, and Morgan said he and his wife would have an alibi for the night of the murder. His wife would be hospitalized and he would be at a VA doctor’s appointment. He had no money, so payment for the crime included a watch, necklace, and gun. According to Talking Points Memo, Morgan attempted to sell a PlayStation 3 and some video games on Facebook to raise money for the crime. His Facebook profile lists one of his interests as “United Klans of America Inc.”
