Tampere(Finland) drug crime unit has uncovered a criminal group suspected of smuggling cocaine and marijuana.


Tampere(Finland) drug crime unit has uncovered a criminal group suspected of smuggling and the spread of large quantities of cocaine and marijuana.

In May, police seized approximately 1.2 pounds of cocaine and 3.7 pounds of marijuana smuggled by criminal.

The seized cocaine is of high quality, when diluted it would be about 12,500 single dose.



The Finish police carried out a preliminary investigation, as well as Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Dutch authorities. 

The police have arrested 7 suspects and 3 are in prison. 

According to police, the leader of the smuggling organisation is a 38 years old Nigerian. He orders the drugs from Holland and stores them in a residential apartment in Nokia. 

Other suspects are, a 25 years old German man, a Helsinki based 37 years old Nigerian, a 30 years old Turkish man living in a Tampere, a 29 years old Finish man based in Tampere and the drug recipient is a 40 years old Congolese residing in Helsinki.

The drugs are usually sold  to users in Tampere nightclubs.

Police suspected that the drug trafficking money are transferred to Nigeria. The money transfer are done via shipped vehicles, used tired, and other items. 

The police said if the drugs are sold on the streets, it will cause its users a serious life and health hazard. 

Tampere has recorded one cocaine-induced intoxication death this year.

The investigation is now completed and the case was transferred for prosecution. The trial will begin in September at Pirkanmaa District Court.
