Lagos prison escapee steals 20 cars
The
Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 32-year-old convict,
Kingsley Chibuzor, for snatching over 20 cars between 2011 and 2013.
Chibuzor was said to have escaped few
months into his sentence from the Kirikiri Medium Prison in 2011, where
he was serving a term for malicious damage.
After his escape, the suspect was said
to have specialised in snatching cars in Lagos, Anambra and Ebonyi
states but met his waterloo when he was arrested by the operatives of
the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos.
He was arrested alongside two members of his gang; Ozoemena Enebeli and Prince Nwafor.
Chibuzor said, “I was arrested and sent
to prison for malicious damage. My prison sentence was supposed to be
for three years but I spent only some months there. One day, around 4am,
I told a prison official to help me get kerosene and he left the door
to our prison open.
“I was able to sneak into a particular
area of the building and jumped over the fence. The area was dark and
nobody saw me. From there, I trekked to Ojo Barracks to visit my mother
but when she asked how I left prison, I did not answer her.”

Students encourage ASUU to soldier on
University students have sided with the Academic Staff Union
of Universities (ASUU) over its uncompromising stand in the
current face-off between the union and the federal government that has
left state universities shut for four months.
On Monday, the National President of ASUU, Nasir Fagge, reiterated
the union’s stand on the nationwide strike action, saying
concerned parents and other stakeholders should direct their pleas to
the federal government.
Parents, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), clerics, the National Assembly, well-meaning Nigerians, as well as President Goodluck Jonathan, have appealed to the lecturers to sheath their daggers and return to the classroom to no avail.
Mr Fagge said that rather than prevailing on ASUU to call off the strike, Nigerians should look at its demands and see their relevance to national development.

Chris Brown granted bail, assault charge reduced from felony to Misdemeanour
Chris, who has been in custody since the incident, had been ordered to take a drug test, but the judge vacated that order. His bodyguard's charge was also reduced to a misdemeanor.

The officers were arrested due to their alleged involvement in the mob action that led to the brutal killing of the two young men as captured by various video clips which later went viral on the internet.
According to our source, Inspector Adefemi Ashogbon, Sergeant John Sanayon and seven other police officers were granted bail due to their deteriorating health in detention and were allowed to seek medical attention pending the outcome of the investigation and date of their trial.
A video recording by some bystanders exposed Inspector Adefemi Ashogbon and Sergeant John Sanayon, who were attached to the Badagry Police station, at the scene of lynching while seven others police officers were detained for allegedly planting guns on the victims and labelling them armed robbers.

Osun: Muslims warn Christians Association of Nigeria against opposition to hijab
The Ansar-ud-deen Society of
Nigeria has warned members of Christians Association of Nigeria in Osun State
against preventing hijab-wearing pupils from any public school in the state.
The National Publicity
Secretary of the group, Alhaji Muibi Adebanjo, gave the warning in a statement
in Osogbo on Monday.
The warning came just as the
President, Muslim Community in Osun State, Sheikh Salahudeen Olayiwola, also announced the Muslims’ support for the new education policy of
Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
He spoke on Monday at a press
conference which was part of activities to herald Hijra 1435.
Olayiwola described the new
education policy as a step in the right direction, saying the policy would soon
put Osun State in position of leadership in the education sector.
He said that the group had
nothing against CAN opinion but said that they should not infringe on the
rights of Muslim students who had chosen to wear hijab.
Another plane crash averted in Abuja

Another
air disaster was averted at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja on Monday as a
Med-View Airlines aircraft from Lagos suddenly took to the air again at the
point of landing in Abuja.
The
pilot told the passengers that he took to the air again to avoid a collision
with another aircraft on the tarmac.
The
airline Flight VL2104 took off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos at noon
and was scheduled to land in Abuja at about 1.05pm.
The
pilot had already announced final descent into Abuja and asked all passengers
and cabin crew to fasten their seat belts but the pilot suddenly took off to
the air again with barely 30 seconds to touch ground.
The
plane had 150 passengers on board. A correspondent of The PUNCH was one of the
passengers.
After
about three minutes of gaining altitude, the pilot announced that he decided to
take off again to avoid colliding with an aircraft that was on ground.

Recent event, however, has shown that Seun
means well for his pregnant girlfriend as we gathered that the girl is
now rocking Paris. She was said to have been in Paris for a few months
after she discovered that her tummy was protruded and she left Nigeria
when her pregnancy became more obvious.
Yetunde who couldn’t attend the 2013 Felabration in Nigeria, was spotted at the on-going one in Paris looking heavily pregnant.
As you can see, she is due to put to bed in a couple of months’ time.

Teenager killed herself after her parents ban her from Facebook, left note saying she 'couldn't live without the site'
A teenager who killed herself after her parents banned her from Facebook left a note for a devastated family saying she couldn't live without the site.
Aiswarya Dahiwal, a second year college student from Parbhani, in the Maharashtra state of India, had asked her parents for permission to log on to the site on Wednesday, but they said no.
The teenager then got into an argument with the couple who told her that she should pay more attention to school work, and spend less time on Facebook.
The family also argued about Miss Dahiwal making long mobile phone calls to her friends.
Her body was found on Thursday morning, and police said that she had hanged herself.
A note found in Miss Dahiwal's bedroom said that she had taken her own life because she was not allowed to go on the social networking site.

David Beckham reportedly crashed into another car as he
pulled out of his Beverly Hills home.
The ex-England football
captain was allegedly in his black Range Rover Sport with what looked like his
son Brooklyn, 14, in the front passenger seat when the collision reportedly
occurred at 2.30pm on Friday.
Onlookers say David, 38,
pulled out of his driveway and hit an oncoming car being driven by a woman.
He reportedly reversed back into his drive way and waited within his residence before police arrived to question him about the incident.
Police were seen leaving his home, then interviewing
witnesses nearby for more information about the accident.
Damage was clearly visible on the white Acura 4x4, as
well as David's expensive Range Rover Sport, where the bumper was hanging off
the front.
The former sports star bought the car in 2010 which is
estimated to be worth between $60,595 and $76,195.

Chris Brown in trouble again, Arrested For Felony Assault
Chris Brown is in trouble once again. The 24-year-old
rapper has reportedly been arrested for a felony assault in Washington, D.C., on
Sunday, Oct. 27, TMZ reports.
The "Don't Wake Me Up" singer allegedly
attacked and began punching a man outside the W Hotel, the site reports. The
incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m.
It appears that law enforcement does not believe that
Brown was under the influence at the time, and he is currently in custody. The
man attacked is now at a nearby D.C. hospital being evaluated.
The "Forever" singer is currently on
probation for the beating of now ex-girlfriend Rihanna from a 2009 incident the
night before the Grammy Awards. During a recent interview with the UK Guardian,
Brown opened up about "the Rihanna incident."

you begin your day determines greatly how well you fare through the day. Most
of the people that go through the day with lack of self-confidence and with low
self-esteem are usually so, because of a negative feeling that they allow to

Man Pleads Guilty To Trying To Hire KKK To Hang Black Neighbor
According to Raw Story, Allen Wayne Denson Morgan told an undercover FBI agent — whom he believed was a Klansman — that he wanted to see the neighbor “hung from a tree and gutted” and have his genitals cut off. He wanted the man to “die a slow and painful death.”
The 29-year-old Munford resident believed his neighbor, Clifford Maurice Mosley, who is a registered sex offender, raped his wife sometime in August. FBI agents said Morgan knew his neighbor had been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a 13-year-old victim back in 2008. Morgan confessed that he tried to “force a confrontation” with his neighbor on August 22 by “firing multiple rounds of ammunition” at him outside of their homes. The man ran away, and Morgan assumed he was guilty of raping his wife since he didn’t try to defend himself.

Cops fired six bullets into 13-year-old boy carrying toy gun
SANTA ROSA, California (Reuters) - No more than 10 seconds elapsed from
the time sheriff's deputies spotted a 13-year-old California boy carrying what
they thought was an assault rifle and the moment they shot him dead, only to
learn afterward the gun was a plastic replica, police said on Thursday.
It took 16 seconds more for the two officers to call for medical
assistance, according to the time line of events released by police investigating
Tuesday's shooting in Santa Rosa, a suburb in northern California's wine
country.
Andy Lopez Cruz, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, had been on his way to a
friend's house clutching the imitation gun designed to shoot plastic pellets,
police said. He died at the scene. A toy handgun also was found tucked in his
pants.
An autopsy performed on Thursday found seven bullets struck the boy, and that two of the wounds were fatal. Investigators believe a total of eight rounds were fired by one of the two deputies who confronted the youth.
The officers involved in the shooting, two deputies of the Sonoma County
Sheriff's Department, have been placed on administrative leave, and the
incident was under investigation by the Santa Rosa Police Department and other
law enforcement agencies.
But the tragedy has reignited calls in the community for creation of
civilian review boards to examine such incidents.

2 Die Of Exhaustion At Onitsha Bridge Traffic Gridlock
The victims, a middle-aged man and a little child, allegedly died due
to exhaustion arising from the long hours spent in their vehicles while
trying to cross the Niger Bridge which passage has for some time now
remained a nightmare to both transporters and their passengers.
Eye witnesses, however, said that the deceased whose identities were
not immediately known was a minor who was coming back with his mother in
a commercial bus from Lagos, while the second victim, was a trader who
travelled all the way from the North to Onitsha to sell his goods.
It was learnt that while the small child died instantly on her mother’s
lap at the Bridge, the business man died minutes after crossing the
bridge to Onitsha from the North. It was alleged that the child had
cried for a long time due to heat in the vehicle while waiting to cross
the bridge before the mother eventually discovered that her child was no
longer breathing.
The bewildered mother was said to have become hysterical as she burst
into tears running helter-skelter when she discovered that her child
whom she thought fell asleep was actually dead. The trader was also said
to have boarded the vehicle from the North and travelled smoothly until
the Asaba end of the Bridge where they spent several hours under the
scorching heat in an attempt to cross the Niger Bridge. An eye witness
account said that the victim and other passengers with him in the
vehicle had already crossed the bridge and was offloading his goods from
the vehicle when he suddenly slumped and died.
The Federal Government had repeatedly promised in the last 10 years to
build a second Niger Bridge to ease traffic congestion on the bridge
which is the gateway from the Lagos and other South-west states to the
South-east and South-South.
